"Keep a tough mind and a tender heart."

Campaign bug bit me in 2004, working on John Kerry’s presidential race for one of the campaign’s polling firms. The campaign was exciting (and ultimately quite painful), but needed to get out from behind a desk, so moved to Virginia Beach, VA and knocked on a few thousand doors as an organizer for Tim Kaine when he ran for governor. Have worked on too many races/projects to count since then, but now focused on helping progressive organizations and campaigns develop, design and implement sophisticated strategic communications programs. Professional interests include program optimization, data-driven strategy, integrated communications, creative design and, most importantly, beating Republicans.

First Job

Career Highlights

I’ve worked on a lot of great progressive campaigns and political programs, but my favorite will always be helping a lifelong friend get elected to the Maryland House of Delegates.

Guiding Principles

Keep a tough mind and a tender heart (h/t MLK, Jr.). A man must have a code (h/t Bunk Moreland). Ball don’t lie (h/t Rasheed Wallace).
